Rite 2 -This service is quite different from the early morning service. The language is contemporary and more inclusive. There are no thee’s and thou’s. In many ways, this makes the service easier for some people to grasp. Hymns are sung by the congregation and the choir, which gives the service a livelier feel. As with Rite 1, the basic structure of the service is found in the Book of Common Prayer. Elements of this structure, known as the liturgy, are found in Christian writings from the 1st and 2nd centuries. |
